The Faces of Our Organization
Mickayel Thuirn
Executive Director/ SHC Artist
Mickayel dreamed up of the idea for SHC in February of 2021 and the nonprofit was incorporated shortly thereafter, being a passion project. Mickayel comes with an HR and Fine Arts background. She has a Masters in HR and Employment Relations from Penn State, her BFA from UPENN, a 4 year certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). She offers over 10 years of nonprofit experience and shows her artwork regularly at Gross McCleaf Gallery in Philadelphia.
Lucy Mason
Board Member
Lucy brings 7+ years of working with donor engagement. She offers a multitude of experience and expertise in fundraising, cultivation, campaign management, annual giving, corporate partnerships and organizing stewardship events. Lucy has her Masters in Art History and Fine Arts Management from Temple's Tyler School of Art and Architecture. She has her BA in English and Studio Art from the University of Richmond.
Taylor Pacheco
Board Member
Taylor graduated from the UPENN Law School where she was Senior Editor of the Journal of Law and Social Change, an Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Summer Fellow, and a volunteer with the UPENN/PLSE Criminal Records Expungement Clinic. She worked with Community Legal Services in the Housing Unit and the Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office and with the Public Defender and the Support Center for Child Advocates. She is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association and Barristers Association of Philadelphia. Taylor is barred in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.
Aubrey Levinthal
Board Member
Aubrey received her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) and a BA from The Pennsylvania State University. She is the recipient of an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant and completed a residency at Ballinglen Arts Foundation, North County Mayo, Republic of Ireland. Levinthal’s work has recently been exhibited in group exhibitions at Anna Zorina Gallery, NY; The Painting Center, NY; Mrs. Gallery, Queens; Nancy Margolis Gallery, NY; and Monya Rowe Gallery, NY. She also has been know to curate art exhibits highlighting Philadelphia artists. Her work has been featured in Hyperallergic, Philadelphia Magazine and Artnews, among others.
Ashanti Martin
Board Member
Ashanti brings 10+ years of experience in communications in the higher education sphere. She also works as a journalist. She has written for the New York Times and hosts a podcast that examines social issues, politics, education, media, and a host of other topics, all with a focus on encouraging critical thinking and media literacy. Ashanti holds her Master's in Communications and Information Studies and her BA in Journalism and Mass Media.
Ilana Tabby
Board Member
Ilana Tabby comes to SHC with experience in fundraising and capacity building for nonprofits through her work since 2012 with Lawanda Horton, President and CEO of Mission Incorporated Business and Professional Solutions, based out of Germantown. Ilana holds a BA in Slavic Languages and Linguistics from the University of Chicago. She is currently a fulltime CNC machinist in Huntingdon Valley, while living in Cheltenham with her artist husband Caleb and their beloved cat Oliver.
